The apartment is comfortable and modern with beautiful renovation.

The East Village Suite D and the other apartments managed by our company are the only environmentally-friendly serviced apartments in New York. We are trying to have as little impact on environment as possible – the apartment is not perfect yet but it is getting there. We are using only eco-friendly cleaning supplies and recycled materials for all the paper and glass that we use in the apartment. We have signed a special contract with the electric company to ensure that we use only electricity generated by wind and water – it costs a little more but we think it is worth it! We also try to use as much recyclable materials as possible. Nowadays everyone has to be thinking about the impact on our planet, and it’s the little things like this that start to make a difference. The apartment has a beautiful bedroom with good closet space and a queen size bed. The living room has a pull out sofa bed that can sleep up to 2 people as well as cable TV with International channels. The apartment also comes with free high speed Internet access and free International calls to International landlines so you can keep in touch with your family and friends back home. The kitchen is just the right size and has a stove, pots and pans, and a big refrigerator. You have everything at your disposal to cook your own meals. Kitchen also has a table with chairs. Considering the apartment location and the amenities, the apartment is one of the best apartments in our database in terms of value for money. We hope to see you in New York!

East Village
The East Village is a neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan in New York City which lies east of Greenwich Village, south of Gramercy and Stuyvesant Town, and north of the Lower East Side. Within the East Village are several smaller neighborhoods, including Alphabet City and The Bowery. The area was once generally considered to be part of the Lower East Side, but began to develop its own identity and culture in the 1960s, when many artists, musicians, students and hippies began to move into the area, attracted by cheap rents and the base of Beatniks that had lived there since the 1950s. The neighborhood has become a center of the counterculture in New York, and is known as the birthplace and historical home of many artistic movements, including punk rock and the Nuyorican literary movement. It has also been the site of protests and riots. The East Village is still known for its diverse community, vibrant nightlife and artistic sensibility, although in recent decades gentrification has changed the character of the neighborhood somewhat.

Apartment surroundings
The East Village Suite D apartment is located on a quiet block right in the middle the eastern side of Greenwich Village, just couple blocks from famous St Marks place – one of New York’s most dynamic neighbourhoods with a huge number of cafes, restaurants and bars. Greenwich Village has from its start been home to New York’s artistic community. Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and many other musicians, poets and artists got their start here. In the 1950’s the Village was home to the Beat Poetry Movement, in the 1960’s the Folk and Rock scene including NY’s Hippie scene, in the 1970’s and 1980’s the NYC punk and hardcore movements. CBGBs, the nightclub considered to be the birthplace of punk rock, was located in the neighborhood, as was the early punk standby A7. No Wave and New York hardcore also emerged in the area's clubs. Among the many important bands and singers who got their start at these clubs and other venues in downtown Manhattan were Patti Smith, Arto Lindsay, the Ramones, Blondie, Madonna, Talking Heads, Television, the Plasmatics, Glenn Danzig, Sonic Youth, the Beastie Boys, Anthrax, and The Strokes.

The apartment is located around the corner from beautiful Williamsburg bridge which you can take to walk over to Brooklyn. As you walk up on Avenue A you will also see beautiful Tompkins Square Park – the heart of the East Village. The park was closed and refurbished in the early 1990s and today, with its playgrounds and basketball courts, handball courts and built-in outdoor chess tables, the park attracts young families, students and seniors as well as tourists from all over the globe. There is a popular free outdoor French film festival which shows critically acclaimed French films each Friday at sunset in city parks including Tompkins during June and July. If you come with your children you will also enjoy the playgrounds - the main playground, closest to Avenue A, features many unique jungle gyms, including rock climbing features. The water fountain spurts out unpredictably, in the summer time. There is a large sandbox, swing sets, and benches. There are two smaller playgrounds in the section of the park near 7th Street and Avenue B.

You will find several interesting places right in your area, like on E 6th Street between 1st Avenue and Avenue A - Organic Vegetarian restaurant “Caravan of Dreams”, “Bnk Mi Zon” Vietnamese Restaurant, bicycle rentals (so you can rent a bike and have your own tour around New York, Manhattan island is actually only 31 miles if you go around it!). You also have an old record store (a heaven for someone who is looking for an original vinyl record from a favourite artist).

You have unlimited food choices in this area – you can cook (there are many food markets nearby) or enjoy one of the numerous (and quite unique) restaurants in the area. Walking down from 14th street and 1st Avenue you will spot a lot of pizzerias, sushi restaurants, restaurants with Middle Eastern cuisine, as well as world-known American chain fast-food restaurants – McDonalds, Subway, Dunkin Donuts, Papa John’s. But that’s not all. You have a lot of unique restaurants right around the corner from your apartment – the restaurants where New Yorkers from all over Manhattan come to eat. A few examples would be: “Tallgrass Burger” (organic grass-fed beef burgers) located on 1st Ave and 13th Street; “Neptune” on 12th and 1st and “Odessa” on 7th and Avenue A (both Polish-Ukranian restaurants with a selection of pierogies, blintzes, and borscht); “Sahara” on 12th and 1st (Northern African, Middle Eastern cuisine); “Simone” espresso and wine bar on 8th and 1st; “The Organic Grill” on 1st Avenue between 7th and 8th Streets (first organic restaurant in NYC); Patisserie on 1st and 10th (you will find all possible pastry you could ever dream about); “Mancotta” Peruvian cuisine on the corner of 6th Street and 1st Avenue; “Benny’s Burritos” on the corner on 6th Street and Avenue A (apparently, serving best burritos in the city); Drom bar (for those enjoying the night life); Vegan organic food and bakery on 8th Street between 1st and Avenue A; on the same block “DOB” – French Vietnamese cuisine.

You also have a variety of grocery stores: Supermarket on 14th Street between 1st and Avenue A; Deli & Grocery on 12th Street and 1st Avenue; Lime Tree Market on 9th and 1st; Liquor Store on 1st Avenue between 8th and 9th Street; Food market and Village Farm & Grocer on 7th Street and 1st Avenue; East Village Farm Deli & Grocery on Avenue A between 6th and 7th Street (large store with different types of food as well as a great place to get your morning coffee and bagels with cream cheese); FoodMart on 2nd Avenue between 6th and 7th Streets.

St Marks Place is a very vibrant and dynamic street. It is named after St Mark's Church in-the-Bowery on 10th Street and Second Avenue. A lot of famous singers and bands played in the bars on this street when they were just starting out. There is also the unique Museum of the American Gangster located on 8th Street between 1st and 2nd Street. In one of the episodes of the popular New York series “Sex and the City”, Sarah Jessica Parker's character Carrie goes to get her shoe fixed on St. Marks Place and ends up dating a man who works at a comic book store on the block. Part of the episode is filmed at the actual St. Mark's Comics.

There are many laundromats around the apartment: the self-service ones are located on 1st Avenue between 12th and 13th Street as well as between 8th and 9th Streets (open every day of the week); Cosmo’s Launderama on 1st Avenue between 7th and 8th Street (self-service and delivery); there is also one where you can just drop off your washing and have them delivered washed and folded to you, it’s on 1st Avenue and 12th Street.

If you need to withdraw some cash or exchange foreign currency, you can go the Chase bank on 2nd Avenue and 8th Street. There is also a unique Souvenir store called Alphabets right around the corner from your apartment – on 7th Street and Avenue A. There you can find special souvenirs from New York including interesting shirts, but not the kind that you would find in Times Square or other places most popular among tourists.

There are several subway lines available around the apartment – J, M, Z trains (brown line) go to Brooklyn and anywhere in Manhattan, F train (orange line) also goes to Brooklyn and Manhattan mostly through 6th Avenue. You can take either train to get to Empire State Building and Midtown.
